DR. SCOTT BURRUS

Dr. Scott Burrus brings over 30 years of experience in higher education and social policy research and experience in for-profit, nonprofit, and governmental organizations. He has experience in various leadership roles, including as university President, Provost and Dean and has overseen colleges of Business and Technology Management, Education, Marriage and Family Sciences, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Psychology. 

Dr. Burrus’ research background in educational and social policy research has focused on online education, child abuse prevention, early childhood education, program development in schools, substance use prevention and treatment, drug courts, including family and mental health courts, child welfare policy, juvenile justice, and cost study applications. 

He has worked on over 25 publicly and privately funded research studies and managed millions of dollars in grant funding that resulted in over 50 publications and conference presentations. Scott is also owner of Empower Wellness LA and a partner in Deeply Well, a holistic health and wellness company. As a certified HeartMath Facilitator, Akashic Practitioner Holistic Wellness coach and with his varied background in applied psychology he has spent time as a substance use counselor, personal development coach, nutrition coach, higher education leader, and social policy researcher. He is also the author of, “How to Transform Yourself and Go from Chaos to Calm,” available wherever books are sold. 

With his diverse professional background, deep appreciation for the arts, and strong administrative expertise, Scott continues to bring valuable insight, energy, and a welcoming presence to PLAY MUSIC ENJOY LIFE! The reason we have our partnership with Unites States University is because of Scott and his relationship with our founder Rick DePiro and his wife Pamela.
